Hi.

I'm trying to compile Lina under Cygwin. It compiles for some minutes 
without error messages, but then it stops with a message saying:
No rule to make target 'install'.

What is wrong??

Hi Kasper,

This appears to be a problem with binutils. I'm tracking it down now and expect to have an answer by Friday which I will post to the mailing list. We are also going to do a second pre-release in the next few weeks with all of the fixes to build problems incorporated.

PRE-RELEASE 2

We will be releasing a second pre-release of the source code before the September 18th open source release to fix all of the bugs that have been discovered by the early adopters on this list. Pre-release 2 will support the following specific operating system:

Fedora Core 7
OpenSuse 10.2
Ubuntu 7.07
Mac OS X 10.4
Windows XP (with CYGWIN)

We also plan to support:

Mac OS X PPC

FreeBSD 6.0
OpenBSD 
Solaris 10 X86
Windows 2000  (with CYGWIN)
Windows 2003 (with CYGWIN)
Windows Vista (with CYGWIN)


In order to catch any potential bugs, we are setting up an automated build system for each platform. We are testing from their base installs and carefully documenting any additional libraries/tools that need to be installed. 

I want to thank everyone on this list for using LINA before the full Open Source release. You helped us catch several build bugs that were not appearing on our machines and enabled us to fix these bugs before the September 18th release. I also want to thank you for your patience: we have been out of the office at OSCON and are now turning our full focus back to development.
