<DIV style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt;"><FONT size="2"><SPAN style="font-family: Arial,sans-serif;">Another project online combined 2 teams of programmers. One group, <BR>Audiscrobbler, wrote a program to track music a person listened to. <BR>Another group, Last.fm, wrote a program so a person could "Love" and <BR>"Ban" music they listened to.<BR><BR>These two groups have merged and are now known as Last.fm. Since then, <BR>other programmers have chipped in and written their own programs which <BR>add functionality to the Last.fm services (which are great in my opinion <BR>except for one small issue).<BR><BR>This is where Lina comes in. Last.fm will NOT allow users to ban certain <BR>artists from being played. So, if you don't like an artist, you have to <BR>ban them initially after listening to them. When I brought this point up <BR>to Last.fm, they said their program would pick up on the artists I don't <BR>like and stop playing them. However, what do you do if you don't want to <BR>listen to certain artists (maybe they are a 90's band and you know you <BR>don't want to hear them again)?<BR><BR>http://nex.scrapping.cc/shell-fm/ Is a Linux based player for Last.fm <BR>radio streams. The programmer helped me get it working on an old powerpc <BR>mac. I was happy to see I could ban artists through his player, but I <BR>wanted to use it on my other computer which had Windows.<BR><BR>Then, I found out about Lina and am hoping to see the merging of <BR>operating systems so I can stream Last.fm using the Linux program <BR>"Shell-FM" on Windows.<BR><BR><BR></SPAN></FONT><BR>&nbsp;<BR><HR>Global Communications Network - http://www.gcn.cx/</DIV>
