[edit] What is LINA?

With LINA, a single executable written and compiled for Linux can be run with native look and feel on Windows, Mac OS X, and UNIX operating systems.

For more information see the openLINA.org homepage.

[edit] What's new in LINA 0.72?

LINA 0.72 includes a cross-platform installation solution that automatically generates installers for Windows, Mac OS X, and UNIX. In addition to creating universal Linux binaries, LINA can now produce platform-specific installers for those applications, so they can easily be installed by any end user.

LINA applications with installers can be easily generated using the linafy and openinstall commands. Documentation will be posted in the coming week.

[edit] Installing LINA from source

LINA is available as source code which has been tested on different platforms, including Ubuntu 7.04, Fedora 7, OpenSUSE 10.2, WindowsXP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003, and Mac OS X. Besides the source code used by LINA itself, a large number of Open Source tools developed by third parties are needed for the build. We have bundled these tools together into two compressed files which must to be downloaded in order to build LINA from source.

The 0.72 release of LINA includes binaries for "one-click" install of LINA on various platforms. These binaries are around 100MB in size - much smaller than all the code necessary to build LINA.

It is highly recommended that you use the LINA binaries to install LINA.

The following pages contain instructions for installing LINA from source on a variety of platforms:
